About
Ismail Iusifli - Backend Engineer
I'm a backend engineer who builds the parts of a product that are expensive to get wrong: concurrent billing, payment webhooks, auth and LLM features.
I'm the sole engineer behind a production operations platform (CRM + LMS) for an online exam-prep school, in production since March 2026. I work end to end, from schema design and locking strategy to deployment and on-call fixes.
The billing core of that platform is open source as edtech-billing-core: an append-only ledger on PostgreSQL with a deadlock-free lock order under READ COMMITTED, a payment webhook that re-verifies every payment with the provider, and 104 integration tests against a real database.
I'm based in Baku (UTC+4), with full overlap with EU hours and mornings with US East, and I'm open to remote contract work.
